Bart Gingerich's avatarJuicy Ecumenism - The Institute on Religion & Democracy's Blog

by Barton Gingerich (@BJGingerich)

The proposed change to the Boy Scouts of America’s exclusion standards has hit national headlines. Currently, the BSA forbids openly gay leaders, volunteers, and scouts. This reflects the opinion of the vast majority of active parents and Scouting leadership. As an Eagle Scout and Brotherhood member of the Order of the Arrow, I was shocked and saddened to hear the announcement that the Boy Scouts were considering a change to this longstanding standard.

While The Atlantic insisted that the main impetus behind the change was the collection of heart-wrenching testimonies, this Christian Post article reveals the crux of the matter: large corporate donors are threatening to withhold funds to the BSA unless it alters the leadership standards. Within the past year, big donors Merck, Intel, and UPS threatened to no longer give to BSA because of its ban on gay scouts, volunteers and leaders. In…

“The ungodly Government of today does not want real men around anymore: Satan knows if he can emasculate the man as head, he can use women, children, and the effeminate to take control. This is what an ungodly government does, they hate God or any idea of God, in stopping them.
The American people need to wake up, and go back to basics again, if they wish to save their culture.”

Dumb Religious Unity

Christ in us is the be all and end all, On the Cross it was finished, done and dusted, yet religious zealots feel they have to add something to a completed work of Christ, Jesus!

Love not the world, a forgotten message

Being a true man of God and moving in obedience, has nothing to do with putting on a clergy suit, or street jacket reading Chaplain. Rather it has everything to do with moving in Christ, in total dependency to his leading, and not drawing attention to one’s self while doing ministry in his behalf.

These words I have written are cutting, as this is the gifting the Lord has given me in the form of a sword. Speaking the truths of God (or word of God) is just that; sharper than a two edged sword… Hebrews 4:12 For the word of God is living, and active, and sharper than any two-edged sword, and piercing even to the dividing of soul and spirit, of both joints and marrow, and quick to discern the thoughts and intents of the heart… This is a potentially a dangerous gift to be given, and will not make one popular amongst the world, and even less amongst the world Church structuring and its followers.

This is why it is written in Luke 14:26 Young’s Literal Translation
‘If any one doth come unto me, and doth not hate ( having a strong dis-preference for)
his own father, and mother, and wife, and children, and brothers, and sisters, and yet even his own life, he is not able to be my disciple;

This means that if you have no desire to put aside everything that even remotely competes in one’s heart in following Jesus Christ your stuffed, and are moving down the broad road towards your own spiritual suicide!

Biblical doctrines or beliefs about Jesus, will not allow you to enter into the Kingdom of heaven, (which Jesus said was within you, when having been born again by the spirit). The human soul is the issue here foremost, not just the intellect or mind. This is why the scriptures always speak about the “sifting of men’s hearts”, and not one’s understanding. Intellectual understanding is fine concerning proper doctrines, yet more importantly we can only receive proper understanding when revealed to us by the Holy Spirit, by abiding in him, who is Christ within us.

Personally speaking, I was raised within a reformed Bible based Church structuring. And I must say, that theologically this type of instruction tracks very closely in sound Bible understanding, yet even its doctrines are not the truth of God; as God is spirit, and we must learn to move and function in him alone, not just a close counterpart in holding correct doctrines.
Also, I personally have discovered that although I was elect of God towards salvation, it is up to me to push into Christ daily within my life, (by the Spirit) and not become complacent in abiding in Christ, having replaced him with something of the world, which I love other than him. As then God would eventually give me over to that thing I love more than him, and I have then taken the broad road, which leads to my own spiritual destruction.

You see dear friends, if we start with Christ, we must finish with Christ! And although I have an understanding of Calvinism, and Armenian doctrines: that understanding will not affect my heart condition, in being a follower of Jesus Christ by the Holy Spirit.
Even more dangerously, if I try to put “God in a box” by my own intellectual understanding, in forcing him into a theological filing system of sorts, I have then just killed the Holy Spirit by using the letter of the law in pride, not allowing God to be the master of my life, but rather me wanting to master him!
If a theologian feels that they must categorize such a heart condition towards the Lord, it would more closely resemble being called a “Calmenian”, yet even that formulation would be to force a spiritual understanding of my Lord, into an academic position, for those who may not even know him.

The sword of the spirit.

Hebrews 4:12 For the word of God is living, and active, and sharper than any two-edged sword, and piercing even to the dividing of soul and spirit, of both joints and marrow, and quick to discern the thoughts and intents of the heart.

The key to this verse is it is living and active (in spirit) many think it is only talking about texts on a page. If they think that, they are wrong and cannot know the Lord personally. In the past, I have been spoken to, by God on this very issue of being given this sword. Also, I once received a vision while in a church of this double edged sword piercing my soul, not once but twice, as a single cutting would have been too overpowering for my body to bare in power. These are spiritual things, and should not be shared with the natural man, nor cast before swine so they may turn and attack you. This is why I take a chance posting events like this on the net, or even sharing with “Church people who claim his name, yet do not walk with him, nor even know him! The Bible is not written to such individuals to comb through by intellect alone. Rather only the basic message of the Gospel should be shared outside a fellowship of true believers. Why? Primarily it is because Satan will twist the truths of God found only by abiding in Christ, to another Gospel using deceiving spirits.

The Great Commissioning.

Matthew 28:18-20
King James Version (KJV)
18 And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.

19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:

20 Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen.

These verses are all too often taught to those who have no business in referencing them. “Within Christendom “, or man orchestrated institutions, which have not been called of God, to send anyone into the world, in representing Jesus Christ, and his gospel.

To act independent of the leading of God is also to act in sin. Institutionalized churches, have chosen to overlook the fact that it is only God who calls and chooses whom he wills, to do his work. In essence, these institutions have removed God from the equation, (and his throne) acting in rebellion, and not in dependence upon him.

In these verses, Jesus is speaking to the original 11 disciples, they are receiving their “personal commissionings”. The verses do not apply, to those whom he has not sent. Namely, Christendom or man orchestrated churches in general.

If a man is called by the Lord into ministry, he will be empowered, equipped, and sent of God to perform such a task, and no amount of human medaling can “teach those” whom are not empowered, or called of God, to move in the power of the Holy Spirit. A true disciple of Jesus Christ must be able to listen (hear) the Lord, move and speak, as only given to do, by his heavenly father. This faith walk is in total accordance with the scriptures, and sound doctrine. A disciple will move in obedience to his will, and not independently of his leading.

I’m sorry if this post is distasteful to some but it is the truth, when reading this passage in context as a whole; and allows the Lord God to remain in control of his gospel, not just religious men acting in religious zeal.

True Shepherds,…

True Shepherds, and not anti Christs are described in: Ezekial 34. Which is something I have been moving into in spirit and in truth, as the Lord continues to do a work within my heart…

Ezekiel 34

New King James Version (NKJV)

Irresponsible Shepherds

34 And the word of the Lord came to me, saying, “Son of man, prophesy against the shepherds of Israel, prophesy and say to them, ‘Thus says the Lord God to the shepherds: “Woe to the shepherds of Israel who feed themselves! Should not the shepherds feed the flocks? You eat the fat and clothe yourselves with the wool; you slaughter the fatlings, but you do not feed the flock. The weak you have not strengthened, nor have you healed those who were sick, nor bound up the broken, nor brought back what was driven away, nor sought what was lost; but with force and cruelty you have ruled them. So they were scattered because there was no shepherd; and they became food for all the beasts of the field when they were scattered. My sheep wandered through all the mountains, and on every high hill; yes, My flock was scattered over the whole face of the earth, and no one was seeking or searching for them.

‘Therefore, you shepherds, hear the word of the Lord: As I live,” says the Lord God, “surely because My flock became a prey, and My flock became food for every beast of the field, because there was no shepherd, nor did My shepherds search for My flock, but the shepherds fed themselves and did not feed My flock”— therefore, O shepherds, hear the word of the Lord! 10 Thus says the Lord God: “Behold, I am against the shepherds, and I will require My flock at their hand; I will cause them to cease feeding the sheep, and the shepherds shall feed themselves no more; for I will deliver My flock from their mouths, that they may no longer be food for them.”

God, the True Shepherd

11 ‘For thus says the Lord God: “Indeed I Myself will search for My sheep and seek them out. 12 As a shepherd seeks out his flock on the day he is among his scattered sheep, so will I seek out My sheep and deliver them from all the places where they were scattered on a cloudy and dark day. 13 And I will bring them out from the peoples and gather them from the countries, and will bring them to their own land; I will feed them on the mountains of Israel, in the valleys and in all the inhabited places of the country. 14 I will feed them in good pasture, and their fold shall be on the high mountains of Israel. There they shall lie down in a good fold and feed in rich pasture on the mountains of Israel.15 I will feed My flock, and I will make them lie down,” says the Lord God. 16 “I will seek what was lost and bring back what was driven away, bind up the broken and strengthen what was sick; but I will destroy the fat and the strong, and feed them in judgment.”

17 ‘And as for you, O My flock, thus says the Lord God: “Behold, I shall judge between sheep and sheep, between rams and goats. 18 Is it too little for you to have eaten up the good pasture, that you must tread down with your feet the residue of your pasture—and to have drunk of the clear waters, that you must foul the residue with your feet? 19 And as for My flock, they eat what you have trampled with your feet, and they drink what you have fouled with your feet.”

20 ‘Therefore thus says the Lord God to them: “Behold, I Myself will judge between the fat and the lean sheep.21 Because you have pushed with side and shoulder, butted all the weak ones with your horns, and scattered them abroad, 22 therefore I will save My flock, and they shall no longer be a prey; and I will judge between sheep and sheep.23 I will establish one shepherd over them, and he shall feed them—My servant David. He shall feed them and be their shepherd. 24 And I, the Lord, will be their God, and My servant David a prince among them; I, the Lord, have spoken.

25 “I will make a covenant of peace with them, and cause wild beasts to cease from the land; and they will dwell safely in the wilderness and sleep in the woods. 26 I will make them and the places all around My hill a blessing; and I will cause showers to come down in their season; there shall be showers of blessing. 27 Then the trees of the field shall yield their fruit, and the earth shall yield her increase. They shall be safe in their land; and they shall know that I amthe Lord, when I have broken the bands of their yoke and delivered them from the hand of those who enslaved them.28 And they shall no longer be a prey for the nations, nor shall beasts of the land devour them; but they shall dwell safely, and no one shall make them afraid. 29 I will raise up for them a garden of renown, and they shall no longer be consumed with hunger in the land, nor bear the shame of the Gentiles anymore. 30 Thus they shall know that I, theLord their God, am with them, and they, the house of Israel, are My people,” says the Lord God.’

31 “You are My flock, the flock of My pasture; you are men, and I am your God,” says the Lord God.

Lightship Chaplain

Some videos I have posted on my real life experiences, concerning following the Lord Jesus Christ in my life. I have been taught of God, as a son of God who learns of the Holy Spirit, not just by being taught Bible academics, doctrines and theology. I have been given some unique opportunities to share Christ with others in different ways, but in the end it is only God who ends up doing the work in the hearts of men, and never bumbling old me!

Anti Christ’s wear Clergy attire!!!

189996_3707919852458_1716031074_n
Or they position themselves in “Church leadership roles”. The Bible does speak about holding the office of Deacons and Elders, and I would never condemn such offices of spiritual authority Biblically speaking. However, it is the spirit of the individual which we must examine.

The Apostle John spoke about those who did start with Christ, yet become diverted by their own need for position and status within the world. He coined the term anti-Christ’s in describing such brethren, who became cut off from God due to their own passions, and not willing to accept sound doctrines in being corrected in their personal walks by true Elders in the faith. So God gave them over to the things, which they made first within their hearts. To put this article in contexts, when I am using the term “Church”, I am speaking about the visible or world Church, not the hidden Church in Christ, who indwells every believer. These brethren are the true Church or Ecclesia, and can only be discerned by the spirit as to who they are, as found in 1John Chapter 4.

As for me personally dear brethren, have been called and chosen before the foundations of the earth to follow Christ in spirit and in truth. I personally have been shown my calling, and have walked with my Lord for over 30 years. In that time the Lord has revealed to me just how different I appear to nominal or broad road believers. I have often felt marginalized by those who claim his name, particularly within “Church leadership”. I never understood as to why I felt intimidated, out of place, and made to feel of a lesser nature, then the so called other brethren I associated with.

In my quest for acceptance, I painfully studied the scriptures’, familiarized myself with sound Biblical doctrines, and even learned theology, Church history, positioning within Ministry leadership, spiritual gifting, and then finally became ordained through the Baptist’s as an independent Minister. This is partially due of the rejection I experienced within the Presbyterian leadership, compounded by the fact that I never received a college degree, due to my struggle with learning disabilities.

After my Near Death Experience, when Christ pressed shoulder to shoulder against me; I decided to try a different “Church Order” who would accept the testimony of my calling, Biblical knowledge, and traditional view of the Bible. I got very close to being ordained as an independent Anglican Priest after writing my doctorate, and submitting it to the Church of England in North America.

I had prayed earnestly for the Lord’s leading in every undertaking which I had set my hand to, in an effort to serve him as a disciple. Then one day, out of the corner of my eye I could just make out my Lord standing opposite of my computer room, this time with some color. Normally I would not have paid attention to shadows seen from the corner of my eyes, but I had learned from my Lord to pay attention to such events: after seeing him next to me in death, and in the car the morning after my Pastoral vision, when he used a Truth for Life broadcast to explain to my intellect what my vision represented. The broadcast explained the root word for Pastor, and who was called to such a task, and who was not.

Dr. Gross, who had trained me in street ministry for six years explained to me that it was Jesus showing me to follow him alone, rather than involving myself with things of this world (specifically within the Church). This is precisely why the Apostle Paul did not entangle himself with different brethren, so he could remain free in Christ, to follow as the Holy Spirit led him.

I understand now why Jesus said that the only way to the father was in following him in spirit and in truth. This is the narrow way, and few it will be who find it! The broad road is choked full of anti-Christ’s, and would be brethren who may have started to follow our Lord, yet let the cares of the world entangle them, and would not be corrected in the wrongful desires of their hearts by the heavenly Father, who they had once set out to follow, yet soon fell into independence and chose to go their own ways.

The reformed part of the doctrine of once saved, always saved, discounts the passages of the sowers of seeds, the ten virgins whose lamps went dry, and the rich man entering the kingdom of heaven, the branches being pruned and burnt, and then even the whole bush, to name just a few. Enduring sound Bible Doctrine has little to do with intellectual understanding of the scriptures, and has everything to do with the condition of the human heart in dependency of those who choose to follow Christ in spirit and in truth.

Today alternative Christ’s (or anti-Christ’s) are wall to wall, this is partially due to the printing press in mass producing the Bible, but more importantly, delivering the Bible to people who have never known the Lord Jesus Christ personally, or they started with him and became diverted from following him alone in obedience. In short, the scriptural understanding of men, independent of God’s teaching via the Holy Spirit, has created a following which is unrecognizable to the natural mind in discerning truth from error.

It is simply amazing to me just how close people can come to the truth of God in using the Bible, yet in reality they neither listen to him, nor want him around, as it would hinder them from living as they chose, and they would experience as Christ and his Apostles did, terrible rejection in the world and that is no good for the “Church business”, or people who are only interested in being comfortable with their status, and false idols they have made for themselves.

Real followers of Christ are always hated for his name’s sake, so beware!

THE LITTLE GIRL AND THE CHICK

A little girl received a small chick which she adored. Worrying about losing the little chick as he grew, she pushed and pushed on him to try and hinder its growth. One day the little girl came out to visit her pet chick, but it was dead as she had crushed the chick slowly to death as to not allow it to grow.

The selfish desire of the little girl to have and hold the baby chicken finally killed him.

This is how I have felt many a time as a baby Christian, born again of spirit and given life by my Heavenly Father by grace. Yet others attempt to squeeze, crush and to manipulate you into what they want you to be.  These type people often feel that they are superior to a child of God, and that they know best, what it is that they should do for them, acting independent of the Father in heaven.

Jesus said that he would build HIS CHURCH, and that the gates of hell would not prevail against it. So why do certain people feel that they can do a better job than God, in being overly involved in a child of God’s life? Just like the little girl, they want to be in command and control of another with a misplaced affection, even though they may not see it.

As a child of God in Christ, I feel that I have suffered this same type fate, of being crushed oftentimes like the little chick. Yet our Lord promises that a child of God was created for his purpose, and although tested under the pressure of life by others, we are not given more than we can handle on a spiritual level. What we do learn however, is how to push back against this pressure, and in doing so develop spiritual muscle, not unlike a weight lifter pushing against more and more dead weight.

Always remember that our spotter, the Lord Jesus Christ, is always with us and he will never allow the pressures of life to be able to kill us. Like Job, we can be tested to extremes to see how we will react within our hearts, and even have the ones closest to us say – “curse God and die” (spiritually speaking) in our faith. Yet we must push ever harder in faith upon our Lord, despite the accuser of the brethren and his cohorts, trying to subvert us away from the truth, found only in abiding in the person of Jesus Christ, the spiritual link to our Father in heaven.
