I was just contemplating, given the authority of God, like Moses was, that the man merely got angry with the wickedness of Israel, then struck the rock in anger to provide water to his people. Yet, because he allowed his human emotions to get the best of him, he was not allowed to enter the promised land.

Then I thought, if it were me in his position, I would have probably gone upside their head with that staff, or at least felt like doing that, which probably would have resulted in my immediate death!
I am sure glad that Christian leaders today are not held to such a high standard in representing the Lord, lest we suffer a result far worse than Moses!
Furthermore, shouldn’t people under such Biblical authority just keep their mouths shut in obedience to God, and not challenge someone charged with such an awesome responsibility?
Yet that never seems to happen due to the many opinions and wants of people – “to be in charge”!
What grace and mercy must exist in the mind of our Lord, to continually overlook and forgive our shortcomings and sins of the heart! Yet should we not at least try to have some level of reverence when approaching God the Father, made possible by the atonement of his beloved Son suffering and bleeding on the cross?
We absolutely should, yet we must be humble enough to acknowledge our own great need, instead of putting on a religious front rooted in our own insolent pride and haughtiness of our souls.
